A live camera picture is not a recording check
Confirm that useful footage can be retrieved before relying on the system during an incident.
Ask for a recording, not only a live view
A camera can show a clear live picture while its recorder is unavailable, storage is full or the time setting is wrong. At handover, ask to retrieve an agreed test recording rather than accepting the live screen as proof that the whole system works.
Claritas plans smart-security installations around coverage, recording, access and the people maintaining them. A usable handover gives the owner a way to check that the system still serves its purpose, beyond a list of equipment specifications.

Review representative conditions
Identify the areas that matter: an entrance, delivery point or another agreed zone. A daytime picture alone does not establish that an event will be recognizable under different lighting. Ask how the proposed equipment handles the actual site rather than assuming a resolution label answers every question.
- Can an authorized user find the correct camera and time period?
- Does the recording show the agreed area clearly enough for its purpose?
- Are timestamps consistent with the site workflow?
- What happens when power, storage or connectivity is interrupted?
Give routine checks an owner
Agree who checks recording health, retrieves a sample and reports a fault. Schedule reviews around equipment guidance and site needs. A changed camera angle, new obstruction or altered lighting can reduce the value of an installation even when it stays powered on.
Retention follows the real purpose, storage design and applicable requirements. Keeping every recording forever is not a maintenance plan. Decide who may retrieve or share clips, and avoid sending private footage through a public support form.
Keep instructions usable
Claritas can help define installation scope and user guidance, with equipment, connectivity and support responsibilities agreed in advance. Ask for the normal retrieval process and a safe fault-reporting route. Continuous recording and emergency monitoring depend on the selected system and service agreement; neither should be assumed from the presence of a camera.
