A new laptop needs a handover, not just a login
Prepare equipment, application access and a route to help before a colleague starts work.
Start with the person and their tasks
A device is ready when its user can complete the work it was supplied for. Identify the applications, files, peripherals and locations the colleague will use before handing over a laptop. Someone answering customer enquiries needs a different setup from someone preparing reports or working across sites.
Claritas supports workplace technology and user enablement. A useful handover connects equipment readiness to the working task, so the colleague is not left discovering missing access during a customer interaction.

Prepare a short readiness list
- Confirm device ownership and the support contact.
- Check required applications and supported updates.
- Verify access to necessary files and services with the employee's own account.
- Test an essential printer, headset, display or other peripheral.
- Explain where working files belong and which storage is backed up.
- Show the approved support channel and safe information to include.
Access should match the role. A handover is not a reason to share another person's password or leave a supplier account as the permanent owner. Credentials and recovery information belong in controlled processes, not public training handouts.
Let the user complete a normal task
Ask the colleague to open the required application, find an approved example file and carry out an ordinary action. They should recognize success and know what to do when something is unavailable. Use non-sensitive material rather than customer records during the demonstration.
Record missing access and its owner. Do not describe an incomplete setup as ready merely because the device powers on. Separate immediate blockers from improvements that can follow later.
Plan for changes as well as arrivals
The same record helps when a person changes role, returns equipment or leaves. Review access, transferred responsibilities and retained business files through the agreed procedure. Claritas can help scope readiness, documentation and staff guidance; software licensing, replacement equipment and ongoing support should be confirmed separately.
