Fix connection, sign-in and delayed-sync problems
Check the right layer before changing your mailbox or sending a message again.
- Confirm the mailbox already works with its provider. Your Mail cannot create or reset that provider account.
- Compare both server hostnames, ports, TLS modes and username rules with the provider's settings. Your email domain need not equal either server hostname.
- Open mailbox connection settings and choose Test incoming and outgoing. Treat the two results separately.
- If authentication fails, check whether the provider requires an app password, enables IMAP/SMTP separately or restricts a sign-in. Do not send your password to support.
- For a Google authorization error, keep the visible non-sensitive error code. Changing a mail server cannot repair an unconfigured or rejected OAuth authorization.
- For missing messages, Refresh and check folder, search scope, sync window and cached-content limits.
Background synchronization requests a 15-minute WorkManager interval. Doze, battery saver, network restrictions and force-stop can delay or stop it; this is not guaranteed instant push delivery. Reopen the app and refresh when troubleshooting.
For help, email and identify Your Mail, version, Android version, provider category and the exact safe error. Exclude passwords, tokens, private message content and full notification screenshots. Review any redacted diagnostic export before attaching it.
