Reduce delay or fix stuttering
Find a stable AirPlay delay without expecting perfect sync with the phone.
- Disconnect the receiver before changing timing.
- For one AirPlay device, open its settings icon → Audio delay. For the default, open Settings → Receiver types → AirPlay → Default audio delay.
- Choose from 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3 or 5 seconds. Start with the default or a stable value, then reduce gradually.
- Reconnect and test real music. If you hear gaps, clicks or dropouts, try a longer delay and check Wi-Fi quality.
The owner reported usable HomePod playback at 0.5 seconds in their setup. Receiver buffering, networking and the source app add latency, so the setting is not a guarantee of exact end-to-end delay. Video lip sync and synchronized multiroom are not promised. HLS intentionally adds buffering and is usually less suitable when low delay matters.
