Connect HomePod or HomePod mini to Android
Prepare the HomePod in Apple Home, then connect through AirSound on your Android phone.
AirSound is an Android audio sender. Initial HomePod setup and its home-access settings are managed with Apple’s supported devices and Home app. This guide starts with a HomePod already connected to your Wi-Fi.
Prepare speaker access
Ask the Home owner to open Home → More → Home Settings → Speakers & TV on their iPhone or iPad. Older versions call this Allow Speaker & TV Access. For an authorized Android phone on the home Wi-Fi, the owner can choose Anyone On the Same Network. If Require Password is enabled, ask the owner for that speaker-access password. You do not need to share an Apple Account password with AirSound.
Connect from Android
- Connect your Android phone to the HomePod’s Wi-Fi network.
- Open AirSound → Receivers and select the HomePod’s displayed name with its AirPlay route.
- If AirSound asks for a password, enter the HomePod speaker-access password. If it asks for a receiver code, follow the receiver’s pairing instructions. Some receivers need neither.
- Approve audio access and Android screen sharing. You may skip the optional track-details prompt.
- Start music in a source that permits capture. If the app is silent, use AirSound’s Open Spotify in browser button or the browser guide.
- Set volume on the connected HomePod row. Confirm audible sound before adjusting delay or equalizer settings.
AirSound currently supports one selected output, not synchronized playback to HomePod and HomePod mini together. A stereo pair or group created elsewhere is not a tested AirSound output.
The owner previously confirmed HomePod playback with Spotify’s web player in their setup. That does not certify every HomePod model, firmware or source app. See Apple’s speaker-access instructions ↗.
