Passwords, pairing codes and connection failures
Enter the right kind of credential and update saved access safely.
Password or code?
Use the speaker-access password when AirSound asks Enter password for …. Use the receiver’s displayed or instructed pairing code when it asks Pair with receiver. A Wi-Fi password and an Apple Account password are different credentials.
- Confirm the receiver and selected network route are the intended device.
- For a saved password that no longer works, disconnect, tap that receiver’s settings icon → Enter receiver password, and re-enter it.
- If saved pairing is stale, use Forget saved credentials and reconnect. This removes AirSound’s saved access on this phone; it does not change the device password.
- If the receiver requests a code, use Enter receiver code and enter the 4–8 digit code shown or provided through its pairing process.
- If a wait/countdown is shown after failed attempts, let it finish rather than repeatedly retrying. A receiver may temporarily rate-limit pairing.
- Use Connection details beside a failure for diagnosis. Report the receiver model, firmware if known, AirSound edition and error stage to support. Never send passwords.
Access policy, pairing mode, firmware support, stale saved pairing and rate limits can also stop authentication. Legacy encrypted RAOP and some older Apple TV PIN modes are not supported by the current implementation. See Receiver compatibility.
