Music is playing, but the speaker is silent
Check the connection, then try a web player if the music app blocks Android capture.
- In Receivers, check the selected receiver’s status and raise its speaker volume from a low, comfortable setting. Confirm that it has actually connected.
- In Settings, check audio access and screen-sharing status. If sharing ended, select the receiver again and approve Android’s new prompt.
- Play a source you know permits capture. Look at the input meter in Listening. A moving meter points toward an output/receiver issue; a quiet meter may indicate source silence or capture restrictions.
- For a silent music app, tap Open Spotify in browser on Receivers, or Try this to open the Listening browser guide.
- Sign in on the service website in Chrome, the browser tested in the owner’s setup. Stay on the website instead of opening the music app. If offered, select This Web Browser in the service’s device picker and start music.
- If the web player is still silent or unavailable, try another source that permits audio capture.
Android lets a source app or protected content deny playback capture. Notification access, microphone permission and Pro purchase do not override that choice. A web player can behave differently, but is not a universal workaround.
The owner reported Spotify’s app and SoundCloud’s app silent in their tests, while Spotify’s web player worked. Apple Music, Audiomack, Samsung Music and YouTube Music were also reported working in those tests. These are observations for that setup, not permanent service guarantees. Android’s capture rules ↗
